Just a few short weeks after ikart scored its first national victory, Jesus Rios and Mike Giessen took to the track against the top drivers in America at The World Karting Association Manufacturer’s Cup hosted at New Castle Motorsports Park. Fueled by a successful showing at the USPKS in Mooresville, the pair outpaced the field all weekend.
Rios set the scene Saturday, out qualifying the entire field by .8 of a second in TaG Senior. He then went on to win the final by over 4 seconds. Later that day he took home the pole and eventually the win in Parilla Senior with Giessen taking fourth place. Sunday saw both drivers run into some technical issues, a broken seal and a nose cone falling off results in disqualifications for both drivers in the TaG class.
In the Parilla Senior pre-final mistakes with tire serial numbers and an air box lead to both drivers starting on the tail end of nearly thirty karts. Putting on an impressive display of driving ability the pair worked their way up through the field in a short time and finished in third and fourth position, garnering the interest of spectators and competitors alike.
